Emergency Planning

Have you got a sound business continuity plan for payroll and HR? What would happen if there was a fire, explosion or a major flu pandemic, could you still produce your payroll?

Every business and organization can experience a serious incident that can prevent it from continuing normal operations. This can range from a flood or fire to a serious computer malfunction or Information Security incident. The management of the organization have a responsibility to recover from such incidents in the minimum amount of time, with minimum disruption and at minimum cost. This requires careful preparation and planning especially within a payroll environment where employees will still expect to be paid accurately and on time.

Emergency planning is not one of those tasks that can be left until someone has time to deal with it which is more often than not the case. A serious incident can affect the organization at any time and this includes the next 24 hours! The contingency plan is usually developed by a team representing all functional areas of the organization and payroll should form part of that team. If your organisation doesn’t have a business continuity plan that includes payroll then it is the payroll managers responsibility to ensure a plan is in place that everyone is aware of should there be an emergency.

Eira Consulting will support you in developing a business continuity plan which will document the processes that need to be put in place in order for you to be fully prepared for every eventuality. We will ensure there are guidelines in place for the staff remaining, backup and restore processes are regularly reviewed and tested and staff are fully aware of their responsibilities and duties in the event of a disaster.
